Obama, Gates, Crowley and… Empathy?

President Obama is meeting with Louis Gates and James Crowley about Gates’ recent arrest in Cambridge, Massachusetts and the ensuing controversy. Today, Chris Hardie’s blog examines what may be behind Obama’s decision to meet with them. As Hardie suggests, this gesture is a departure from cultural norms—who knows, Obama might just empathize with both parties.
