From the article “My Word: Empathy is important in making judgments”  in the Oakland Tribune:Editor’s Note: If I were to say “Sympathy for one party is always prejudice against another”, that might be closer to accurate since sympathy implies some agreement with the person. Empathy does not imply agreement, only understanding. So I wonder if Senator Sessions misunderstands empathy, or accidentally misused the word, or was his intention something else? I’ll take door number three.
